comunistaWe, the undersigned communist and workers parties, express our support for and solidarity with the struggle of the Sudanese people against the dictatorial regime, for democracy and social progress.

Since the beginning of the mass peaceful demonstrations that swept the country the dictatorial regime has unleashed its repressive machine, using excessive force, killing over 40 protesters, injuring hundreds and detaining over one thousand people, including leading opposition figures and activists, Communists and democrats. Furthermore, it directed its violent repressive actions against students, women, activists, professionals and journalists.

Sudanese CP ArabicComrade Fathi Alfadl, member of the Political Bureau of the Sudanese Communist Party and its official spokesman, was arrested this morning in Khartoum by the security forces of the dictatorial regime. There is deep concern for his safety and health.

In an escalation of the regime’s repressive campaign, as mass demonstrations continue since the popular uprising began on 19th December 2018, scores of communists and democratic activists were arrested today.

Communist and workers’ parties issued a common solidarity statement for the Sudanese CP, while the spokesman of the Sudanese CP, Fathi Afadl was arrested yesterday.

- Thousands have marched on New Year’s Eve through the capital Khartoum chanting "The people want to overthrow the regime", "Freedom, Justice, the revolution is the people’s choice". The march called by the Professional Alliance of trade unions, marked the 14th day of continued mass protest actions against the dictatorial regime. The peaceful march was met with excessive force by the security forces with live ammunition. Reports speak of five dead and scores were injured as snipers targeted protesters from the rooftops. Arrests included two leaders of the Professional Alliance, and the chairman of the United Unionist Party.

The Sudanese Communist Party declares its support to the peaceful demonstrations against the regime.

Last week, the people of Sudan took to the streets in peaceful demonstrations demanding an end to the bankrupt economic policies of the dictatorial regime and the repeal of all the recent measures based on the IMF instructions. During the mass actions and peaceful demonstrations that have been taking place in major cities all around the country for days, hundreds of demonstrators have been detained, including Hanadi Fadl, member of the Political Bureau of the Sudanese Communist Party. After the security forces received the order to "shoot to kill," by December 22, more than forty innocent demonstrators had been killed.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 95 million workers in 130 countries all over the globe, expresses its internationalist solidarity with the workers and the people of Sudan, who have been organizing mobilizations since December 19th 2018.

Sudanese Communist Party suffers from continuous attacks towards its cadres. Recently two comrades, Fathi Elfadl and Taj Alsir Othman Babu, were arrested by the security forces.

Sudan has witnessed mass demonstrations against the regime's economic policy resulting in serious deterioration in people's living conditions. While the Party calls for the strengthening of the building of people's resistance committees for mass actions across various sectors in workplaces, residential areas, schools, universities among workers, farmers, youngsters, women and students, Sudanese regime continues to target cadres of the Sudanese Communist Party.

New demonstrations in Sudan meet with repression and leaders of the opposition including those of the Communist Party of Sudan are detained.

Following the uprisings against the economic policies of the Sudanese regime on 16 January in Khartoum and 17 January in Omdurman, the call for 31 January in Khartoum North met with massive support of the Sudanese people.

The demonstration organised by the opposition including the Communist Party of Sudan (CPoS) was harshly repressed by the regime’s security forces. In several towns of Sudan, protests were dispersed by the police and the leaders of the opposition were detained by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS).

Common appeal by communist and workers' parties in solidarity with the working people of Sudan demanding the immedate release of the leaders of the CP of Sudan and all political detainees.
