The World Federation of Trade Unions representing more than 95 million in 130 countries of the globe expresses its solidarity with the people of Thailand who are facing the consequences of the tropical storm which afflicts the Pak Phanang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province.

The tropical storm is leaving behind at least one dead and countless disasters in houses and facilities. The strong winds uproots trees, destroys roofs and part of the country’s electricity system.

The popular strata and the ordinary people, and particular the residents of the southern provinces of the country, remain defenseless and are oftentimes affected by similar natural phenomena.

The World Federation of Trade Union demands the supporting of the affected areas for the full and immediate restoration and compensation of the damages. At the same time the international class oriented trade union movement will continue its multifaceted struggles for the implementation of adequate protection measures in all aspects of life.
