    The media's 'Trump, Trump, Trump' obsession is attracting attention away from what imperialism is actually doing around the world', Liz Payne told the Communist Party executive committee last weekend.

    The party's chair said that the major imperialist powers, led by the USA but also including Britain and France, were spreading conflict and terror in their vain efforts to solve a 'systemic crisis' of international capitalism by intensified domination, super-exploitation and a 'war economy'.

  • 35 Prominent Israeli Authors to PM: Don’t Deport Asylum Seekers

    Thirty-five prominent Israeli authors sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday, January 18, calling on him not to deport asylum-seekers. “We call on you to stop the deportation of asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan, men and women carrying horrific scars on their bodies and souls from their journey and from torture camps in Sinai, and children born in Israel who are asking of us only one thing: to live,” the letter said.

  • Communist leader Victor Anpilov passed away

    Historical leader of the communist movement “Labor Russia” Victor Ivanovich Anpilov died at the age of 73.

    He was born in 1945 in the Krasnodar Territory. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University and worked for many years in the State Television and Radio of the USSR.

  • Higher Education Council Creates Sexual Harassment Watchdog Post

    For the first time, the Council for Higher Education (CHE) has appointed someone to be responsible for preventing sexual harassment, CHE representatives told the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women. Sigal Mordoch, an assistant to the deputy head of the CHE, will be in charge of dealing with issues relating to sexual harassment.

    The farmers of the country are facing acute distress due to rising input cost and they are forced to sell their agri-produce at the throw away prices. The Communist Party of India in its considered opinion is of the view that the BJP-NDA government led by Narendra Modi have deceived the farming community by not implementing the promises made during 2014 election campaign.

    Kemal Okuyan, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey, has been sentenced to 11 months and 20 days of imprisonment on the grounds that he libeled President Erdoğan in an article published on July 28, 2015. The fact that Kemal Okuyan will not serve time provided that he pays a pecuniary fine determined by the court, does not make any difference.

    The oppressive regime in Turkey wants to punish and silence our comrade, like thousands of others in Turkey, because of his political activities.
  • Army Plan to Militarize Two Areas in Occupied Palestinian E. Jerusalem

    The Israeli military is examining the possibility of assuming responsibility for repression in the Shuafat refugee camp and in Kafr Aqab, Palestinian areas that, according to Israeli law, are in the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Jerusalem but which have been physically cut off from the city since the construction of the separation barrier.

  • Solidarity with the Sudanese people and the CP of Sudan

    The Sudanese CP (SCP) reported the government attack towards the Party including the detention of its leaders following its successful march against economic measures. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a solidarity statement.

    Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump denounced all the nations of Africa, plus Haiti, El Salvador and by implication other countries, as “shitholes”  whose people should not be allowed to immigrate to the United States.

    To us in the Communist Party USA, the only mild surprise is the bluntness and vulgarity with which Trump expressed himself.

  • Comrade Manohar Deshkar Is No More

    Comrade Manohar Deshkar, Secretary of the Central Control Commission of the Communist Party of India passed away in the early hours of Wednesday (January 17, 2018) at his residence at Kamptee Cantoment in Nagapur district. He was 85 years old.

    Comrade Manohar Deshkar joined the Communist Party as a whole-timer in late fifties and remained secretary of the Nagpur District Council of the CPI for decades. He was elected secretary of the Maharashtra State Council and later a member of the National Council of the Party. During the Puducherry Party Congress he was elected member-secretary of the Central Control Commission.

    A new report by Gisha – The Legal Center for Freedom of Movement – entitled 2017: Tightening of the Closure, summarizes the measures imposed by Israel during the past year to further limit the movement of people to and from the Gaza Strip via the Erez Crossing. The report includes new or intensified measures, introduced with little or no justification cited, and, it appears, no consideration of the impact they would have on the lives of Gaza’s residents.

  • Post-Trump Declaration Dec. Toll: 10 Palestinian Dead, 408 Wounded

    In December 2017, between the 7th and 31st of the month, Israeli forces shot and killed 10 Palestinians and wounded another 408 during protests against US President Donald Trump’s declaration recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

    Eight of the dead were unarmed Palestinians demonstrating near the Gaza perimeter fence, none of whom posed a mortal danger to the soldiers involved.

  • Activists to Israeli Pilots: Don’t Fly African Refugees to Their Deaths!

    Distressed by the far-right government’s decision to begin the massive deportations of Africans in March, MKs Dov Khenin (Hadash – Joint List), Michal Rozin (Meretz), and Eyal Ben-Reuven (Labor) announced a special emergency conference on refugees and asylum-seekers in the Knesset for next Wednesday, January 17.

    The conference will include civil-society organizations, academics, lawyers and experts in the field, along with asylum-seekers and refugees who will present their stories.

    The city of Beer Sheva is attempting to evict the Negev Coexistence Forum for Civil Equality from its municipality-provided community center, “Multaka-Mifgash” (Encounter) following a concerted effort by far-right extremists. This is the only place where Jews and Arabs can meet in the southern city to work together to promote equality and understanding.

    A little over a year ago, the Women’s March brought literally millions into the streets to protest Donald Trump’s inauguration and everything it represented. It was a hugely important moment in the resistance highlighting the leading role of women, a role that has only grown.

    This year’s march is just a few week’s away and is focused on the midterm elections. The national march is January 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Local marches will take place the day before,  January 20.
