  • Instead of a Tory Brexit, we need a Labour Brexit

Communist Party of BritainIn response to Tony Blair's statement on Brexit and the Labour Party today January 4, 2018), CPB General Secretary Robert Griffiths said:

Jeremy Corbyn should take no advice from a discredited charlatan whose contempt for public opinion is exceeded only by his contempt for honest and truthful government. Instead of a Tory Brexit, we need a Labour Brexit - not a betrayal of 17.4 million Leave voters. Tony Blair's fanatical support for the anti-democratic, pro-big business EU is the last thing Labour needs if it wants to keep millions of working class electors and win millions more from UKIP and the Tories at the next General Election.

  • What to make of Iran’s demonstrations

Party for Socialism and Liberation (USA) published an article on the recent developments in Iran, authored by Mazda Majidi.

Party for Socialism and Liberation (USA) published an article on the recent developments in Iran, authored by Mazda Majidi.
Analyzing some of the underlying caused behind the recent demonstrations, Majidi states:

  • Tudeh Party: »Only progressive forces can determine Iran's future«

Special interview by soL with Comrade Mohammad Omidvar, member of the Politburo and Spokesperson of the CC of the Tudeh Party of Iran

    ICP, 5 January 2018

soL: What is the context and what are the main drivers behind the current wave of protests in Iran? Can you also comment on the impact of neoliberal economic policies on the current crises?

Mohammad Omidvar: As per our Central Committee's statements over recent days, the Iranian people's protest against the regime has its roots in the deep socio-economic crisis in Iran. The neoliberal policies of the Iranian regime over the past two decades - fully supported and indeed praised by the World Bank and IMF - have pushed millions of Iranians below the poverty line and into a life of hardship un-paralleled in our recent history. Rampant inflation, especially the rise in the price of basic commodities beyond ordinary peoples' means, combined with massive unemployment, especially amongst the youth - which, according to officials in some provinces, is as high as 50% - as well as the continued suppression of peoples' democratic rights and freedom, have pushed our country to the point of this social explosion in anger against the rule of political Islam.

  • CP comment on Blair

In response to Tony Blair's statement on Brexit and the Labour Party today (January 4, 2018), CPB General Secretary Robert Griffiths said:

  • Statement No. 3 of the Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran

    tudeh

    • The regime’s plots to violently and bloodily suppress the protest movement of the frustrated people must be prevented through an organised struggle and united action.
    • We strongly oppose any kind of foreign intervention in Iran and believe that the right-wing and racist leaderships of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and the criminal and reactionary regime of Saudi Arabia, are no friends to the people of Iran and certainly do not strive for freedom, independence and social justice in our homeland.
    • We condemn the deliberate and purposeful attempts of the mass media of imperialist states, as well as the propaganda and news outlets of the Iranian regime, to misrepresent the democratic, patriotic and virtuous characteristic of the current protest movement in Iran
    • The way to save Iran is not to replace one dictatorial regime with another kind of dictatorship and tyranny. Our people are striving for a national, popular and democratic republic
    • The struggle to reject the dictatorial regime of the Supreme Religious Leader in Iran should be progressed with careful organisation. The broad participation of manifold social layers - and particularly the workers and working people - in this struggle, in paralysing the ruling apparatus, would be a decisive factor in forcing the regime to retreat.
  • Statement No. 2 of the Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran

    tudeh

    • The broad protest movement of the masses against the dictatorial regime of Iran must be expanded and organised through progressive and national slogans, towards the developing of a united action of various social strata; from the workers and working people to the militant youth, student and women.
    • The Tudeh Party of Iran strongly condemns the brutal suppression of the popular protests by the repressive forces of the regime.
    • The Tudeh Party of Iran, its membership and sympathisers fight alongside the militant people of Iran to abolish tyranny and establish freedom, peace, sovereignty and social justice.
    • The Iranian regime intends to violently drag down the protest movement of the masses and brutally suppress it, just as in 2009

    Dear compatriots,

Your revolt in recent days against oppression, poverty, deprivation, injustice and the tyrannical regime ruling our nation, has grown further and has spread to many cities throughout the country. At the same time, in the past two days, we have witnessed the organised violence of the suppressive forces of the ruling theocratic regime who have been sent into the streets to intimidate the people and clamp down upon their legitimate protests. The murdering of a number of demonstrators in the city of Dorood and the injuring of a number of demonstrators in Tehran and other cities, demonstrate the regime’s plans to push the popular protest towards violence, brutally suppress it and drench it in blood.

  • Tudeh Party of Iran: The struggle of the people against the dictatorship is real

    tudehDear compatriots,

The politico-economic crisis of the bankrupt theocratic regime of Iran is growing and deepening daily. The impact of this crisis can be observed in the internal regime conflicts and the unprecedented revelations of infighting between powerful factions - revealing the depth of corruption and oppression that prevails in the so-called “exemplary system of the world”.

  • New attack of Neo-Nazis

Today, December 23, 2017, a large pack of neo-Nazi youths attacked the premises, where the Komsomol members of Ukraine gathered for the regular Plenum. At the moment bandits from Azov and other criminal groups under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service (as one of the leaders of the neo-Nazi S14 Karas has openly stated) are threatening to kill Komsomol members and trying to burglary penetrate the premises. The police came to the scene, as always, do not interfere in the situation.

  • Communist Party denounces Trump move on Jerusalem

On Wednesday December 6, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his government recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and that therefore the U.S. embassy, now located in Tel Aviv, will be moving there.  Trump, with typical bombast, announced that the construction of a new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem would be “a magnificent monument to peace”.

Most of the rest of the world sees the move, rather, as being a harbinger of more conflict and war.

  • A Joint Call by the PPP and the CPI

Communist Party of IsraelPalestinian People's PartyThe Palestinian People’s Party and the Communist Party of Israel severely condemn the US president’s, Donald Trump, decision from Dec 6th 2017 concerning Jerusalem, which constitutes a blatant assault on the Palestinian people’s rights, and a clear strike to the requirements of a just peace according to the UN resolutions adapted by most countries and the vast majority of the peoples worldwide.

The US policy supporting Israeli Occupation of the OPTs since 1967, will only lead to an actuation of the chaos and instability in the region and world. It rather assures the fact that the United States is part of the problem, not the solution. There is no other solution than ending the occupation and the fulfillment of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and, the establishment of the independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital and the solving of the Refugees issue according to UN resolution 194.

  • Common Appeal of Communist and Workers’ Parties in solidarity with the Palestinian people

comunistaThe Communist and Workers’ parties that sign this common appeal:

1, Strongly condemn the unacceptable position of the President of the USA, D. Trump, through which the USA recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

    2. This decision strongly undermines the just struggle of the Palestinian people against Israeli occupation, for the creation and recognition of a Palestine State at the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Moreover, this decision, which constitutes a dangerous provocation against the peoples of the Middle East, is moving towards the direction of a more general conflagration in the region in order to satisfy the US imperialist plans.

  • KKE: The USA “adds fuel to the fire” to “burn” the Palestinian State with its capital in East Jerusalem

kke greeceIn its statement, the Press Bureau of the CC of KKE notes: “The USA “adds fuel to the fire” to “burn” the Palestinian State with its capital in East Jerusalem

The decision of the USA to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital shows the cynicism with which American imperialism actively participates in the crime that is being committed against the people of Palestine by Israel and its allies, primarily the USA, as well as the EU. The later, not only deepens constantly its relations with Israel, but also equates the perpetrator with the victim, proclaiming as "terrorism" the just struggle of the people of Palestine.

  • Communist Party of Ireland: Ruling by fooling

CP IrelandAccording to the Financial Times (Wednesday 6 December), “Blocking a Brexit divorce deal is a high stakes game. It is in everyone’s interests to help May keep the show on the road.”

The leaking of the supposed deal regarding the “border issue” between Britain, Ireland and the EU shows that it would result in the economic border being placed in the Irish Sea (at ports of entry into the British state) and with the North of Ireland having a special relationship, called “regulatory alignment,” with the EU. This provoked an immediate tantrum from the DUP and the UUP, who fear even any apparent weakening of the union with Britain.

  • Communists condemn Brexit Phase One deal

The Communist Party of Britain has condemned the Brexit Phase One agreement between the British government and the EU Commission announced today (December 8).

'This pro-big business, minority Tory regime is loyally carrying out the instructions of its EU Business Advisory Council to tie Britain to the EU single market for the foreseeable future, while paying through the nose for that dubious privilege', CPB general secretary Robert Griffiths declared.

  • Zhores Alfyorov: Socialism Will Be Back

Russia has become a country of rent-seekers, with millions of people living off the sale of natural resources.

My father joined the RSDLP (B) in September of 1917 and, being a member of the regimental and division Soldiers’ Committees, was sent from the front to Petrograd where he heardLeninspeak on October 26.

He would later tell us about it.

During the Civil War, starting as a private, he became commander of a cavalry regiment in the Red Army. Shortly after the end of the Civil War he was appointed as a special representative of the VChK-GPU on a section of the Soviet-Polish border. There he met a young seamstress who became his life’s companion. I remember his telling us, his sons, that when the White Poles were planning attacks on our border our side learned about it form father’s partner, a Polish communist who was a captain with the border guards. When our side needed it, he helped us by opening a section of the border.

  • Developing a socialist-oriented market economy is the Party correct economic lines

    PhD. Nguyen Manh Hung*

TheResolution of the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, 12th Tenure on "Strengthening Party building and rectification; prevent, and repel degradation of political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestationsofinternal"self-evolution" and "self-transformation"identifies one of theinternal"self-evolution" and "self-transformation" manifestationsis “nulifyingthe socialist-oriented market economy"(1), which denies Vietnam's achievements in economic development, and maintains that economic development lines of the Communist Party of Vietnam are wrong.

One of the arguments put forward to deny the socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam is the interpretation that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) seems to make a “switch” in the market economy, moving from a socialist-oriented market economy to a capitalist economy, claming that:
