  • Ukrainian young communists convicted of "terrorism"

Ukraine's Young Communist League (LKMSU) accused authorities on Thursday of subjecting several of its student members to trial by a kangaroo court.
Three LKMSU members — one aged just 15 — were convicted of “terrorist” offences on Tuesday. They were arrested for laying flowers to commemorate the Soviet Union’s World War II victory over fascism on May 9, carrying a communist banner and the orange and black St George ribbon — now an anti-fascist symbol.

  • CPI Welcomes ICJ Stay on Jadhav’s Execution

The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India welcomes International Court of Justice’s (ICJ’s) verdict staying the execution of former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav by Pakistan, though the final verdict is yet to be pronounced.

  • Tudeh Party: Iranian people braced for the outcome of the latest Islamic Republic charade!

Tudeh Party of IranTudeh Party of IranThe presidential election in Iran is taking place today, 19 May. Although there are a lot of commentaries in the media both in Iran and internationally about the outcome of this election, one key point is clear and undisputed - that none of the opposition forces are allowed to take part in this election.

The candidates that have been approved and shortlisted are all from different factions of the ruling regime and thus the overall outcome of the election is a foregone conclusion, i.e. a candidate totally committed to continuing the same strategic direction of the theocratic regime will be appointed. The final “victor” of the election will be the one selected by Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme religious leader, based on the judgement as to whether he is the one that the regime considers as having the key qualities to go on and secure its survival in the current complex situation both at home and internationally.

  • General Strike in Greece

pameGreece lives today a 24hr general strike, as well as the strike rallies and demonstrations of the All-worker’s Militant Front (PAME) in dozens of cities, against the measures which the coalition government of the “Left” party of SYRIZA and the nationalist party of ANEL is bringing for discussion on that day in Parliament. Protest demonstrations will be organized by PAME all over the country on 18th of May, the day the measures will be voted on.

  • It’s high time for the vote of no confidence in the government

This current government will already do nothing for our citizens. The quarrels between coalition parties block the laws either being both proposed and put on the table in the Parliament to be passed or even being discussed. Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia has been drawing attention to it already since last January. However, our proposal to dissolve the Chamber of deputies (Lower House) and to call an early election has not found the constitutional majority to be needed. As it is shown currently in all its bareness, the adhesion to the governmental positions is, for a good many persons involved, more important than the interests of their own country.

  • Statement of the Tudeh Party of Iran in relation to the disastrous mining disaster

Tudeh Party of IranTudeh Party of IranAccording to reports currently circulating, as a result of a massive explosion deep within a coal mine in Golestan province, northern Iran, a large number of miners have been killed and others trapped and concerns are growing for their safety. So far, the death of 35 miners has been confirmed and 21 bodies have been recovered. Most of these miners have perished due to lack of oxygen. Reports indicate that the bodies recovered at this point are of those miners that went in after the explosion in an attempt to save their comrades already trapped at a depth of 1200 to 1800 meters underground. The Tudeh Party of Iran released a statement on Wednesday 3 May expressing concern that around 60 miners had been trapped within the deep tunnels of the privately owned North Western Zemestan Yurt Coalmine. The authorities locally have already confirmed that the mine lacked certain necessary safety equipment including that for the monitoring of the level of explosive gas build up within the complex. One miner has reported that the motor operating some of the machinery had already stopped owing to the gas build up but that the miners were told to continue with their work and restart the motor at which point the initial explosion occurred.

  • KSČM on Czech Government’s Crisis

KSCMWe reproduce a statement issued by the Executive Committee of the Ventral Committee of the Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia (KSČM):

An announcement by Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka to intend to declare Czech Republic’s government to resign has verified the KSČM’s opinion from the very beginning of 2017. The coalition government, composed by the Social-Democrats, the ANO movement and the Christian Democrats, in the political flap of mutual accusation of scandalous violation of the laws, will do no positive thing for Czech Republic henceforth. The only solution in the interest of Czech citizens is to advertise a Parliamentary early election.

  • AKEL: The abandonment of long-standing positions of our side leads to a non-solution

AKELWe reproduce a statement issued by  AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou on May 4th, 2017, in Nicosia:

The effort to solve the Cyprus problem isn’t being made without any foundations whatsoever and out of nowhere. There are decisions that form the basis and the framework of the solution, which are expressed with clarity in numerous UN resolutions on Cyprus. The basis for the solution of the Cyprus problem is bi-communal, bi-zonal federation with political equality as defined in the relevant UN resolutions which the Greek Cypriot side has accepted since 1977 and has reaffirmed several times.

  • Solidarity with the struggle of Communists of Ukraine

The court hearings on the case to ban the Communist Party of Ukraine are close to be finished. Appeal instance announced the debates for the 24th of April, 2017. That means that the court will announce the judgment this day. We are confident that this trial is a politically motivated and is aimed to destroy the Communist Party of Ukraine and to prohibit Communist ideology.

  • On the banning of the CPU

    Dear comrades!

April 24, 2017, the Kiev Appeal Administrative Court did not take a risk to make a final judgment on the CPU ban ordered by the ruling oligarch-nationalist regime of Ukraine.

Your support - the support of the world communist and workers' movement played crucial role in this. The statements of the international communist, trade union, youth, women's forums, the activity of human rights organizations, primarily the World Organization of Democratic Lawyers, and especially the direct participation in the court hearings of the deputies of the European Parliament and national parliaments from the communist parties, European lawyers showed that the Communist Party is not alone in its struggle for the rights and freedoms of working people, in the fight against the oppression of capital for peace and security on the planet.

  • Iraqi Communist Party: We condemn the brutal Turkish aggression on Iraq’s territory

Iraqi Communist PartyTurkish warplanes yesterday (25th April) bombarded sites in the Sinjar area in Iraq, which it said belonged to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), inflicting human losses and material damage.

This aggression came after the recent referendum in Turkey, which gave Erdogan and his government a green light to continue along the path of arrogance and to seek to impose its will on other countries in the region through the use of force. Such an approach would, of course, open the door to further complexities in the region and the world, and would further complicate international cooperation and coordination against Daesh and terrorism with even greater difficulties.

  • Declaration of the French Communist Party on the Presidential Elections

French Communist PartyWe reproduce a statement issued by the French Communist Party about the results of the first round of French Presidential Elections:

The second round of the French presidential election will be a contest between the racist and xenophobic candidate of the far right, Marine Le Pen, and Emmanuel Macron, the candidate selected by the financial world to reinforce the liberal policies afflicting our country for the past 40 years.

This situation is extremely grave for our country. The far-right reached the second round and the left has been eliminated. However, for the first time in decades, millions of citizens, striving for social change, nearly succeeded in carrying their candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon to the second round. Voters who were betrayed by the policies of Hollande and Valls and who worked hard to bring Jean-Luc Mélenchon to the second round are today experiencing mixed and sometimes contradictory feelings.

  • TKP: The government does not have legitimacy anymore

Communist Party of TurkeyWe publish a statement issued today by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) on the referendum results:

The referandum results, which are designated with tyranny, cheating and stealing, do not have any legitimacy. Those who attempt to celebrate this result mock the people.

We call our people, who do not submit, to unite, to act organized and not to accept 'fait accomplis'.

  • Communist Party of Ireland: The attack on bus workers and rural communities continues

Communist Party of IrelandWe reproduce a statement issued by the Communist Party of Ireland:

The talks at the Workplace Relations Commission between the unions and management in Bus Éireann have broken down, and the dispute has now been referred to the Labour Court. The company was not in a position to put forward a proposal, though the unions identified €18 million in potential savings.

This package would also have included up to 240 redundancies and massive changes to work practices. Changing the way workers would be paid was discussed, instead of various rates for overtime, Sunday and rest days, etc. A new composite rate would be introduced; this was agreed in principle, but no agreement on an actual rate was forthcoming.

  • Iraqi Communist Party's office attacked

Iraqi Communist PartyThe center of the city of Diwaniyah in southern Iraq was shaken just after midnight when two hand grenades were thrown by criminal and rogue elements on the headquarters of the district committee of the Iraqi Communist Party in the province. Although the attack did not, fortunately, lead to human losses, it immediately evoked angry reactions and condemnation. It has raised tension and public anxiety in Diwaniyah that were caused by yesterday's developments at the Qadissiya University.

  • The KKE denounces the USA’s attack against Syria

Communist Party of GreeceThe Press Office of the CC of the KKE issued the following the statement on the US attacks against Syria:

The KKE denounces the attack of the USA against Syria with the use of missiles from American warships in the Mediterranean and expresses its solidarity with the much afflicted Syrian people.

The peoples know that the USA and its allies, which created criminal organizations like "Al Qaeda" and the "Islamic State", promote and utilize pretexts in order to justify the interventions and the imperialist wars in Syria, Iraq, in the wider region of the Middle East and North Africa, which is an arena of fierce antagonisms, with the peoples being the victims. They did the same in the past too.

  • SACP: Zuma must resign now!

South African Communist PartyIn a statement issued on Friday night, the South African Communist Party is calling for the resign of South African president and ANC party chief Jacob Zuma:

The Political Bureau of the SACP met in Gauteng today in the context of the deep crisis into which the reckless actions of President Zuma have once more plunged our ANC-led movement, our hard-won democratic institutions, and our country in general.

The recall from an overseas trip of comrades Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas while on a promotional tour in South Africa’s interests, and now the firing of these comrades and other well-performing ministers is more than regrettable. It is frankly outrageous, particularly while the worst performers in cabinet continue to enjoy presidential protection and even, in some cases, promotion.

  • Statement of Syrian Communist Party about the US attack

Syrian Communist PartyThe Syrian Communist Party issued the following statement about yesterday's bombing attack of US forces against Syria:

This attack is a new step of American imperialist aggression on our homeland Syria, which was preceded by inflicting us military units in the North-East for our country, without any justification in customary international law. That transgression is to reflect the general approach of American imperialism in the attack on the sovereignty of states, peoples, expansionist plots to permanent status, which is composed of imperialism.

  • TKP: You lose yourself when you smell blood – HANDS OFF SYRIA!

Communist Party of TurkeyThe enemies of the Syrian people continue to attack this country which they have been tormenting using jihadist gangs and international terrorist networks. The partnership of imperialist media and pro-sharia agents fabricated a chemical weapon scenario in Idlib and so made up a pretext for the missile attack by the United States.

We warn Erdoğan: We are going to bring you to book for the jihad that you intend to wage with US missiles. No! Do not you dare to add new ones to the crimes that you have already committed and to involve this country in your own devastation.
