  • Prison Service Rejects Request by Hadash MK to Visit Ahed Tamimi

    The Israel Prison service has rejected a request by Hadash MK Youssef Jabareen (Joint List) to visit the detained teenage Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi.

    “It is my right as a member of the Knesset to visit Tamimi and examine the conditions of her imprisonment and her treatment,” said Jabareen, who was given no reason for the denial.

Though its leaders at the state level are projecting as if it has nothing to do with either of the warring faction of AIADMK, it is playing its cards safely.

He was brought to trial on Monday 13th of February, after a lawsuit was filed against him by a former MP of fascist Golden Dawn, with the accusation of misconduct, because he implemented the unanimous decision of the municipal council in 2015 and did not facilitate the activity of this criminal Nazi organization. In the end, the trial of Kostas Peletidis, the mayor of the 4th largest city in Greece, was postponed for the 23rd of February.

    This morning, Saturday 11 February 2017, thousands of our Iraqi people rallied in a peaceful demonstration in Tahrir (Liberation) Square in central Baghdad. Their statements, slogans and chants expressed their determination to continue their march on the path of reform and change and combating corruption. Demonstrators demanded the dissolution of the Electoral Commission and the formation of a new commission that is truly independent, away from the quota system, ensuring that the candidates for its board of trustees are characterized by integrity, credibility, professionalism and impartiality. They also called upon the parliament to legislate a fair and equitable election law that expands participation in decision-making, is non-exclusionary, does not impose the hegemony and domination of certain forces and blocs, and protects the voice of the voters and safeguards their will in choosing their representatives.

The attitude of the AKP government alleging to be giving the choice on the one hand and on the other, choking the rest alternatives, has no result other than increasing the distrust and delegitimizing the electoral result. But, it cannot change our firm attitude on our campaign for ‘NO’.

    Indian Constitution is one of the biggest constitutions of the World and is the most valuable gift from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to the nation and its people. It has become necessary to overcome the painful colonial past. The Constitution has given Directive Principles for the nation, with definite goals to be achieved by implementing them. It has given us democracy, secularism and equality to all the citizens irrespective of religion, caste, creed and language. By incorporating socialism through an amendment, the goal for socialism is also included. Our Constitution has given us freedom of faith, freedom of expression and abolished untouchability, defining it as a punishable offence.

    The fact that both sides simultaneously submitted maps for the first time is positive. Regardless of the fact that the Turkish Cypriot proposal is not satisfactory, the tabling of maps creates the preconditions for a concrete negotiation and the achievement of an agreement on the territorial issue.
