  • Thousands of Social Workers Begin Unlimited Strike, Protest in Center

Thousands of social workers in Israel launched an open-ended strike on Monday, July 6, to protest poor wages, their constant exposure to the danger of violence, and the excessive workload they must bear due to the COVID-19 crisis. With the start of the strike, thousands of them and their supporters demonstrated at Habima Square in Central Tel Aviv, and blocked traffic on nearby Ibn Gavirol Street.

  • Tories face ‘heavy reckoning’

‘This Tory government will face a heavy reckoning for its disastrous response to the COVID-19 crisis’, Communist Party general secretary Robert Griffiths told the party’s online executive committee meeting at the weekend.  He pointed out that that Britain had the second highest death rate for the virus in the world – second only to Belgium which includes suspected as well as confirmed cases – and, micro-states aside, the ninth lowest testing rate. He also cited a recent survey published by the Economist Intelligence Unit which put Britain second from bottom of a league table of 21 OECD countries in their response to the crisis after taking account of populations risk factors such as obesity, age profile and international mobility.

  • Stop Israel’s annexation plan!

The Communist Party USA denounces the plans announced by the government of Israel to annex up to 30 percent of the land the Palestinian people hope to include in a future Palestinian state—an annexation which Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his coalition allies had threatened to carry out as early as July 1 but is expected in the coming days. This annexation would not be possible without the full backing of the Trump administration, and without the extremely weak response of the Democratic Party opposition in the U.S. Congress.

Numerous activities were organised by KNE’s Organisations all over Greece for 26 June, International Day Against Drugs.

With events, meetings, exhibitions, film screenings, sports tournaments, artistic creation, etc. we are sending a strong message against all drugs, while at the same time we promote KNE's positions, by disseminating in a mass way the publication of the Committee of the Central Council of KNE Against Drugs "Look for the real substance - Say NO to all drugs" (https://bit.ly/3hAaBP5).

  • Joint List MKs to Democrats in the US Congress: Stop the Annexation

Joint List IsraelAll 15 Knesset members from the Joint List sent a letter on Thursday, June 25, to members of the Democratic Party in the US Congress urging them to take a firm stand against Israel’s plans to annex portions of the Palestinian occupied West Bank.

  • Economic crisis and police violence spark people’s movements

We shall not lose heart, no matter which turn history takes, but we shall not allow history to take a turn without our participation. — V. I. Lenin

The US is going through the most profound economic, political, and social crisis since the 1930s Great Depression, a crisis sparked by the covid-19 pandemic. On top of an already volatile mix, the heinous racist police murder of an African American resident of Minneapolis, George Floyd, occurred. His killing, along with the earlier murders this year of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, sparked the most significant wave of demonstrations and civil unrest in the United States since 1968.

  • Who will ensure justice when the youth is given no options?

Since the beginning of our education we hear only one thing: Matriculation will determine your life!

This week, we will enter the exam which will “determine our lives” along with millions of friends and peers. This exam is supposed to evaluate our knowledge, our talents, our dreams and all the things we are capable of, in almost 3 hours. We have 3 hours, make it or break it!

  • Solidarity with the Youth and the people USA

comunistaCommon Announcement the Communist, Progressive and Anti-imperialist Youth organizations of the world

The Communist, progressive and Anti-imperialist Youth Organizations, that sign this common announcement, we condemn the most recent criminal acts in the USA,  the brutal murder of  Afro-American George Floyd, by the police, and the violent repression and attempted criminalization of  the struggles against racism, injustices and social inequalities. These events have exposed once again the aggressiveness of the USA and its Trump administration in the offensive against the workers and the people of the United States.

  • Joint Announcement of the Communist Youth Organisations: Solidarity with NKPJ and SKOJ!

comunistaThe Communist Youth Organisations signing this text express our solidarity with and support to our comrades in the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) and its Youth Organisation, the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ), on the occasion of the exclusion of their electoral list from the parliamentary election, which will be held in Serbia on Sunday, June 21.

  • More Protests against Annexation of Occupied Palestinian Territories

Dozens of leftist activists blocked Herzl Street in Tel Aviv last Sunday, June 14, to protest Israel’s “colonialist policies and plans to formally annex” occupied Palestinian territories. The protesters barricaded the central downtown road with concrete barriers and fences, on which they raised banners in Hebrew, Arabic and English reading: “No to annexation, No to apartheid” and “Israel is not a democracy… Apartheid.”

  • Fine Gael Is Not A Normal Party

In recent days the caretaker Taoiseach Leo Varadkar referenced the widespread horseshoe theory with the comment that “the far right and the far left aren’t very different to [him]”. Leo refers to this idea by suggesting that the two are separate and him and his comrades in Fianna Fail and the Labour Party are somewhere in the middle. This political perspective is also common in university curricula. In the School of Law and Economics it is essentially implied that the current social democratic and capitalist method of organising society is in the middle, while extremes such as fascism and communism are the other ‘authoritarian’ and ‘totalitarian’ options and both are dictatorial and anti-democratic.

  • Waiting no more: Our dying days are done

Once again, an African American man, Rayshard Brooks, was gunned down in Atlanta by deadly fire, shot in the back at point-blank range while fleeing arrest by white officers. And once again, a daughter’s cry for her father will forever go unanswered while the deeply racist system of American policing reveals itself for all the world to see.

  • Build working class unity, says veteran anti-apartheid campaigner

At a Black Lives Matter rally today (13 June) in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, the rally’s organiser, Morning Star supporter Pete Stevenson, read out this stirring message from veteran anti-apartheid campaigner and communist Ken Keable. There were over 200 people at the rally and the message was warmly received. Social distancing was strictly observed.

Message from Mr Ken Keable of Stoke-sub-Hamdon, Somerset

  • Organizing the unemployed, then and now

Hunger, homelessness, and evictions were features of the Great Depression in the United States. Jobs disappeared and working conditions deteriorated. Some “250,000 teenagers were on the road.” And how many others? By 1933 one-third of farm families had lost their farms. Unemployment that year was 25 percent. The lives of working people were devastated.

The federal government’s New Deal led to political and social reforms. Now the U.S. government once more has a big economic crisis on its hands, this one associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s providing mostly financial relief, with a lot going to big economic players.

  • Britain must confront its racist and imperialist past

“Britain must confront its racist and imperialist past. In order to fully recognise the problems of racism in Britain and its continued imperialist role, it is absolutely necessary that Britain confronts its racist and imperialist past – says the Young Communist League and the Communist Party’s Anti Racist Commission.

  • The Palestinian People’s Struggle Stands to Get Increased Impetus

As Israel’s far-right government undertakes the annexation process of West Bank settlements and interconnecting roads as well the Jordan Valley, the Turkish Communist website SoL News interviewed representatives of the Communist Party of Israel (CPI) and Palestinian People’s Party (PPP), regarding Israel’s intentions, and the struggles of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples against them.

SoL: We can say that in Turkey, the Palestinian people, along with the Cubans, have historically been one of two nations that have received the support and sympathy of the immense majority of the population. Thus, a friendly sentiment towards the Palestinian cause prevails in Turkey, but it sometimes results in apathy to the daily developments in the region. However, today, we face a dire, hardly-reversible danger. Can you explain what is at stake? What is Israel’s intention, and what is the legal framework it requires?

Israel’s continuous occupation regime intends to commit more violations of international law as it intends to annex the Palestinian Territories occupied in 1967. Israel continues to choose war instead of peace, and occupation over employment, education and welfare. It is not only committing a crime against the Palestinians but also against its own citizens.

  • Black Lives Matter protests continue at Trump’s doorstep

I had the honor of joining in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Black Lives Matter–endorsed protest events this past Saturday evening in Washington, DC, at both Freedom Plaza (a location of one of the Occupy DC encampments back in fall 2011) and the newly named Black Lives Matter Plaza. From what I’ve seen, heard, and read, these recent BLM protests are distinct from the past in that an unprecedented number of white people are joining in solidarity with the protests across the country. The events were Black led and Black voiced, and people were happy to make space in conversation for each other. There was an outpouring of mutual aid from different organizations giving out sanitizer, masks, water, snacks, meals, and street medic services.

  • From uprising to elections and beyond

Our country is in the midst of an unprecedented uprising. Initiated by the African American people and joined by our Asian, Latino, Native American, and white sisters and brothers, millions are saying, “hell no” to institutionalized racism. And this is happening not only in America but also all over the world. Humanity is standing up, demonstrating their solidarity, declaring that George Floyd, and before him Breonna Taylor, and before her, Ahmaud Arbery did not die in vain.

  • Solidarity with the People of United States!

We, the Communist and Worker's Parties express our solidarity with the multinational working class of the USA and with the NorthAmerican people that have taken to the streets mobilizing against racism, repression, unemployment, and other acute problems caused by the capitalist system of exploitation.

The murder of George Floyd is not an exception, it's a rule racist policy, against African-Americans, Latinos, and immigrants of other nationalities. The system of exploitation confronts, in the same manner, the whole of the working class, as the COVID-19 pandemic proves, that is currently over two million infections and almost 113,000 deaths, where many lives could have been saved, but a privatized health care system turned out to be dangerous because its criteria is capitalist profit.

  • Mobilize for November 3rd and beyond

As has been said, we are at a tipping point moment in our country, and it’s so wonderful to have the strength and analysis of our Party expressed in the report from Joe Sims and the reports that will come from the comrades in the battleground states.

The clock is ticking. We have 150 days until the 2020 election, the election of our lives.
