  • Lekki tollgate killings

The Communist Party of Britain has issued the following statement after reports from international contacts about the shootings at the Lekki tollgate, Lagos, yesterday:

  • "Never forget..." Documentary of KNE in honour of the victims of the "Golden Dawn"

This documentary that you can watch with English subtitles is a production of KNE in honour of the victims of the nazi, criminal organization “Golden Dawn” and especially in honour of the anti-fascist musician Pavlos Fyssas, as this year marks 7 years since his murder by members of the “Golden Dawn”.

  • Big Tech’s monopoly goes unchecked

In the middle of the last century, Marxist economist Victor Perlo described the U.S. economy as an “empire of high finance.” If he were writing today, he’d probably update his assessment to say U.S. capitalism has also become an “empire of high technology.”

  • Election countdown: #VoteAgainstFascism

This report by the Political Action Commission was presented to the National Board on October 7, 2020.

It is now 27 days until November 3. I’ve been asked to give a brief information update on the work of our Party, which can serve as the basis for sharing experiences and ideas to sharpen our work even more. Each day presents us with a new crisis, more chaos, and more challenges to the democratic process.

  • 'Beware Boris bearing gifts', CP warns

Trade unions should beware Boris Johnson’s ‘Build Back Better’ strategy because it will demand a high price from workers and their families, the Communist Party warned at the weekend.  Former union president Bill Greenshields told the party’s online executive committee that Tory pledges to rebuild British industry and provide better and cheaper energy, transport, housing and health and education services could not be trusted.

  • It can get worse: The path toward fascism

There is no doubt that over the last four years American democracy has changed significantly due to the actions of President Trump. While much of the Republican base was critical of Trump in 2016, very few people, even on the left, were willing to call Trump a fascist. However, since Trump took office, people are increasingly recognizing that his administration is a fascist threat. In 2017, Marc Brodine described the historical path taken by fascist movements in his article What Do Fascists Do before Fascist Dictatorship?”

  • Marxism and the fight against white supremacy

Let’s face it. White people in the U.S. are committed to American capitalism, its brutality, its exploitation, its violence. Not all white people, mind you. And not all supporters of capitalism and its crimes are white. But probably the majority of the tens of millions who keep coming back every four years to vote for Trump, Romney, McCain, and Bush identify as white. They think “all lives matter” (but not really) and actively endorse, live, and work on behalf of the white supremacist status quo.

  • Cable Street is a powerful example

Over the weekend of 3/4 October, young communists conducted home to home leafleting on estates in Cable Street scene of a famous battle against fascism in 1936. The three day campaign included a street stall, giant projection of a film on the Battle and postering, with a banner display on the Sunday. On the afternoon of the anniversary of the Battle, 4 October an online meeting attracted hundreds of participants and later thousands watched the recorded film.

  • Why do they fear a proper lockdown?

    JF, Baile Átha Cliath

Contrary to the views of conspiracy theorists and the far-right, the government does not like the current lockdown situation. Rejecting expert advice to escalate to level 5 lockdown in order to slow down the intensifying crisis situation, the government has compromised with a level 3 lockdown across the 26 counties. Any Dubliner can give you a heads-up: it’s been no craic but the cases are still skyrocketing. Why doesn’t the government enact the necessary measures? Why have they been skirting around the issue for over half a year now?

  • CPI and CPI (M) Delegation Visiting Hathras

A joint delegation consisting of six leaders of Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) will be reaching Hathras tomorrow (06.10.2020) in the forenoon to meet the victim’s family members to express solidarity.

  • Sinn Féin Must Re-examine Relationship With the British Monarchy

    TS, Corcaigh.

Earlier this week, Sinn Féin’s Michelle O’Neill met with the Prince of Wales, as part of his ongoing trip to the 6 counties, to discuss the upcoming centenary of partition and the potential “rabbit-holes” that may accompany it. This is not the first time Sinn Féin has met with representatives of the British Royal Family. Famously, Martin McGuinness shook hands with the Queen of England in 2012, while both Gerry Adams and Mary Lou McDonald met with Prince Charles in 2015 and 2018 respectively. While the mainstream media has presented these meetings as representative of political progress within Sinn Féin, in the eyes of the republican community, it can be seen as nothing less than a rejection of the republican principles they claim to uphold.

  • Communist Party of Armenia: We want peace! We reject aggression!

comunistaThe Communist Party of Armenia calls for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia!

On Sunday 27 September, the Azerbaijaniarmedforces resumed their attack on targets inside Artsakh (the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave) and reignited a dangerous conflict that could quickly escalate and further endanger the peace and stability in the already volatile region. The Communist Party of Armeniastrongly and unequivocally condemns the assault by the Azerbaijani military forces and their Turkish backers, as well as the vile rhetoric of their political leaders, which has been consciously directed against the civilians of Artsakh and Armenia.

  • Prez debate says it all: #VoteAgainstFascism

Last night’s debate proved that our #VoteAgainstFascism slogan is exactly right. For an hour and a half Trump launched (in classic German Nazi fashion) a blitzkrieg; that is, he attempted to roll over his opponent with overwhelming verbal force. He bullied and blustered, he shouted and shamed, he lied and leered in a take-no-prisoners prime-time performance. Be forewarned: it was no mere performance but a prelude to what’s to come.

  • Jobs, safety and investment the key

In response to the recent TUC conference, Communist Party chair Liz Payne has urged Britain’s trades union movement to unite to defend every job, demand a safe return to work and to reject EU attempts to limit control state aid to industry in England, Scotland and Wales.

Warning that millions more jobs will be axed when the Tory government’s furlough scheme ends in late October, she supported union demands that they participate in planning what comes afterwards. But Ms Payne told the Communist Party’s online political meeting on September 16 that economic planning must include medium- and long-term strategy for investment in industry and public services, not just emergency stop-gap measures.

  • COVID shows need to fight for jobs and pay – Communists

‘The COVID crisis has exposed jobs, the right to work and society’s total dependence on labour as the fault-line of capitalism’, Andy Bain told the Communist Party’s executive committee at the weekend.

In an online meeting, he said it was essential that capitalism’s massive threat to jobs is challenged at national and local levels by the trade union movement. The CP trade union organiser urged trade unions, trades councils, Unite community branches, People’s Assembly and other anti-cuts bodies, Morning Star groups and political parties to come together in local campaigns to defend and demand jobs.

  • Vote against the rising fascist threat

We are not yet living under fascism, but it is closer than it has ever been — no longer a whiff of white supremacist violence and state terrorism, but a constant reek. Trump dispatches secret police against protestors, undermines the elections, threatens schools that adopt anti-racist curricula, and calls for violence against those who criticize him. This march to fascism has one, and only one, purpose: to remove any democratic constraints on the power of the capital, allowing big corporations to make us pay for the economic, political, and environmental crises they have caused.

  • The Breonna Taylor grand jury decision is criminal

That traditional symbol of justice, the balanced scale held by the Roman goddess of justice Iustitia, represents for African Americans nothing close to reality in our current “justice” system.

On Wednesday a Kentucky grand jury met to decide whether the three white police officers who raided Breonna Taylor’s Louisville apartment and killed her on March 13 were responsible for her death. Their answer was no.

  • Militant struggle along the KKE, confidence to people’s strength, socialism for life to be victorious!

Crowds of people participated in the main events of the 46th Festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), held in Athens on September 17, 18 and 19, 2020, in strict compliance with all necessary measures for safety and health protection.

It was a great Festival, different but also familiar at the same time, which made a loud call for the daily struggle for the rights to education, work, health, and life. It was a breath of hope and optimism!

  • Iraqi Communist Party Calls for Intensified Solidarity with the Palestinian People to Defeat the Shameful Normalization Deals with Israel

A ceremony was held in Washington DC yesterday for the signing of the normalization agreements between the UAE and Bahrain on one hand and Israel on the other hand, under the auspices of Trump and Netanyahu, in another humiliating step in the humiliating process of normalization with the Israeli occupation.

This step came after the normalization agreement last month between the UAE and Israel, with American blessing, and despite widespread popular rejection. It is no secret that the timing of the announcement of the normalization of relations between some Arab countries and Israel, which had been taking place behind the scenes, came about under pressure from the US president for electoral purposes and to enhance the position of Netanyahu, who is being legally pursued for corruption in Israel, and to appease the Zionist lobby in the US. These agreements confirm the involvement of these Arab regimes in implementing the infamous so-called "Deal of the Century" as part of US imperialist strategy to enhance its hegemony over the Middle East region through the establishment of a new regional alliance led by Israel.

  • Anti-Netanyahu Protests Continue in Spite of Lockdown across Israel

Far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted on Thursday night, September 17, that an unpopular new nationwide lockdown set to begin the next day was “important and “necessary” to stem the rising coronavirus infection rate, which passed 5,000 daily infections this week. The surge in confirmed infections has made Israel one of the two leading countries in the world for increased daily infections in relation to is population.
