  • People power: At the ballot box and beyond

No one movement by itself can determine the outcome of the elections. But all people’s organizations, including the Communist Party USA, can decide what the post-election climate of struggle will look like: will we be fighting for our lives or for the advanced demands we need? The goal of the Communist Party USA is to change what is possible in this given moment with the movement we can and continue to build. The 2020 elections aren’t about getting Biden elected as president. This is mainly about defeating a right-wing agenda in the United States.

  • Stop Misuse of Social Media: CPI

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (August 19, 2020) against the use of social media by the ruling dispensation to serve its divisive agenda:

  • Two years and a pandemic for continued looting, surrender and repression

pcparaguayoTwo years after the assumption of Mario Abdo as fraudulent President of the Republic, after the internationally scandalous electoral robbery, social tensions between the exploiting employer class and the exploited working class are on the rise, because of the powerful crisis of the production system capitalist on a world scale. The pandemic that began in March of this year, further evidenced the miserable expression of the mercantile culture, where rights such as food, health, education, have a price and those who have no way to pay must resign to luck, political favors, or to the hypocritical charity of some millionaires and the solidarity of the working majority.

  • Hadash/CPI Blast US-Brokered Israel-UAE Normalization Deal

Israel and the United Arab Emirates reached an agreement on Thursday, August 13, to normalize relations between the two states, a deal slammed by the Palestinians who called it a “treacherous stab in the back.” Under the agreement, which was brokered by US President Donald Trump, Israel says it has agreed to suspend the annexation of parts of the occupied Palestinian West Bank. However only hours after the official announcement from the White House, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he remained “committed to annexing parts of the West Bank.”

  • Pompeo out! No collaboration with US imperialism!

pda oesterreichStatement of the Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria, Vienna, 13 August 2020

On 13 and 14 August 2020 US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be in Vienna, where he will meet with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Foreign Minister Schallenberg and President Van der Bellen (as well as with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias). The Party of Labour of Austria states: It is not in the interest of the Austrian people to collaborate with the reactionary, criminal, militaristic, racist and anti-democratic regime of the US. All over the world, the US Army and Navy and the CIA, of which Pompeo was formerly director, are acting against the peoples, while serving the global profit and domination interests of the US monopoly and financial capital. The State Department under Pompeo is one of the central coordinating points of the Trump administration's aggressive and warmongering international policy, in "diplomatic", political, economic and military terms.

  • Communists blast Erdoğan’s Re-conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque

tkpTurkey’s two largest communist parties have both blasted the decision of the right-wing government of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to re-convert the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul into a functioning mosque. The magnificent building, which dates to 537 A.D., was originally the main Christian cathedral of Constantinople (Istanbul), capital of the Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire. In 1453, after the city was captured by the Ottoman Turkish Sultan Mehmed II, it was converted into a mosque. Then in 1934, the building was secularized and turned into a museum open to all visitors regardless of faith. But at the beginning of July, the conservative Islamist government of Turkey announced that the secularization order had been rescinded again, and Hagia Sophia is a mosque once more.

  • We don’t need American tourists, we need Communism

As we correctly ban Americans from Ireland, the real question worth asking is why is the rural economy so heavily dependent on tourists in the first place?

For decades, our country has been run down, de-industrialized and underfunded. Post offices closing, bus routes cut, opportunities for young people eviscerated and basically silence for most of the year outside the summer months. In the book Sins of the Father by Dr. Conor McCabe we see how the economy was orientated around foreign direct investment and tourism, and all serious indigenous industry was shuttered.

  • Elections 2020: The trouncing of a noted liberal

This year’s New York State Democratic primaries (June 23) occurred during one of the nation’s most troubling times—in the midst of a spontaneous, nationwide outpouring of grief and anger set off by the release of video showing the police murder of George Floyd on May 30 in Minneapolis. This tragedy occurred after a rash of lynchings of people of color that was brushed aside by the judicial system. Meanwhile, a disproportionate number of people of color are incarcerated for non-violent criminal offenses. The primary had originally been set for April but had to be postponed because of the raging pandemic, which has taken a disproportionate toll on communities of color. It occurred while New York City faced the highest unemployment rate (25%) in the country because of the collapse of the tourist industry.
