Communist Party of TurkeyThe Conference process of the 12th Congress of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has been completed with the two day meeting of the delegates in İstanbul on 27-28 May 2017. At the 12th Congress of TKP, important decisions for the forthcoming year of struggle have been decided on at the sessions by the participation of the 383 delegates, 14 of which from abroad.

World Federation of Trade UnionsThe World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million workers all over the world, strongly condemns the ban of the glass workers’ strike under the pretext of ‘threat to national security’.

The government of Turkey proves once more its anti-worker character, the postponement for 60 days of the strike, practically means that the workers of Şişecam, Turkey’s biggest glassware company, have to submit to their employer’s demands regarding the collective bargaining process that started on December 12, 2016.

TKP hold mass rallies in the big cities of Turkey, including, Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir and Adana. Tens of thousands of people marched with TKP.

Before May Day, the TKP issued the following statement:

May 1st of 2017 should be celebrated with massive participation of our people who do not submit. Our working class, our hope for the future, should prove its strength. For that, we call all the working men and women, all the educated and youth to march with TKP. TKP will take place with its own rally ranks at the meetings to be held in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir and Adana. We announce our participation to those meetings to be held by the initiative of DİSK, KESK, TMMOB and TTB.

TurkeyFor the 23rd April Grup Yorum planned its traditionally concert with the title »independent Turkey« in Istanbul/Yenikapi. In the past years the concerts were over and over banned and also Germany has more and more joined the AKP politics by refusing visas for the band, which has also organized peaceful concerts with up to ten thousands fans for decades in Europe.

Grup Yorum could count up to a million visitors at its concerts for an »independent Turkey« in Istanbul. Despite of preventions by the governemnt in the past years, it was still able to organize concerts with hundred thousands, or in worst case spontanous concerts with its fans in several neighborhoods and streets of Istanbul. We translated the latest statement of Grup Yorum, concerning the ban of the concert.

Communist Party of TurkeyWe publish a statement issued today by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) on the referendum results:

The referandum results, which are designated with tyranny, cheating and stealing, do not have any legitimacy. Those who attempt to celebrate this result mock the people.

We call our people, who do not submit, to unite, to act organized and not to accept 'fait accomplis'.

Communist Party of TurkeyIn the last two days more than 40 members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) were detained during the campaign for rejecting the presidential system at the referendum which will be held on in Spring 2017. The attitude of the AKP government alleging to be giving the choice on the one hand and on the other, choking the rest alternatives, has no result other than increasing the distrust and delegitimizing the electoral result. But, it cannot change our firm attitude on our campaign for ‘NO’.

Communist Party, TurkeyA twin bomb attack outside a soccer stadium in the Turkish city of İstanbul on December 10. The first and larger explosion took place about 10:30 less than two hours after a match had finished on Saturday evening. Officials gave no immediate details on the nature of the second explosion, which sounded like it came from the same area. The Communist Party, Turkey (KP) released a statement condemning the attack. The full statement is as follows:

JINHASince the declaration of the state of emergency on 20th of July 2016, in Turkey 146 press and broadcasting media outlets have been closed. The Turkish government is conducting these attacks on media through decree law. Within the last 4 months the government has enacted 10 decree laws, 2 of them for the closure of media outlets. The second one was announced on 29th of October 2016, when 15 - to date still remaining - mainly Kurdish news agencies, newspapers and journals were closed down. One of the via decree law closed down agencies is JINHA, the first all-female news agency in the Middle East.

HDPWe would like to inform you regarding the attack that took place yesterday, Friday, November 4th 2016 in Diyarbakir:

The location that was attacked by ISIS at around 8:00 am yesterday morning was a police school, which has been used for more than ten years as an additional service building by the Diyarbakır General Directorate of Police. It is located in the center of Bağlar province and consists of a a complex of several units that houses also the riot police directorate.
